The Art of Planking

Planking is becoming the latest craze on the internet and television. I found it amusing while some old people are against this thing. For those who are not aware of planking, here are some popular definitions to check out:

Juan Hapito planking at CCP

  • described as the practice of lying down flat with face down with stiffened arms and legs, to mimic a wooden plank.
  • refers to the act of lying face down with arms to the sides in unusual public spaces and photographing it to share online.
  • described as the practice of lying down flat with arms to the side, to mimic a wooden plank.
  • involves lying face down stiff as a board in unusual, and sometimes dangerous, locations and uploading the photos online
  •  an exercise involving holding a position known as the "Lying down game", which involves lying face down with arms to the sides in unusual public spaces
Planking originated in Australia and escalated globally including here in the Philippines. It may seem really dangerous if done in a crazy/deadly way, but here, in our country, people are encourage to perform safe planking

To do it, here's how:
  1. Find a safe location.
  2. Lie face down with arms to the side.
  3. Make sure your body's straight as a plank.
  4. Toes pointed.
  5. No facial expression.
  6. And, no looking at the camera.
Check out Planking Philippines for more photos.
Of course, you should try it as well. Happy safe planking!:)
