Romi Garduce talks about the Cold Truth at ROX BGC

It was not part of the the plan really. But when it’s mom who asked me if I wanted to join her extreme activities, then I have no choice. But don’t give mom a bad impression here. Mom is not the very strict kontrabida type you’re thinking. In fact, she’s the coolest mom ever! And I love her. That is why even though I wasn’t feeling so good yesterday, I accompany her to go to the ROX at BGC for the Romi Garduce’s talk about “The Cold Truth”.

Romi Garduce is the first and only Filipino who has climbed all of the 'Seven Summits’. Mountain climbers, like mom, know what I’m talking about here.
I never thought Garduce was that kind of man. I'm referring to those who are  expert at climbing mountains and not really used to talking in front of many people. But he was totally cool! He’s very funny, smart, he talks English fast (with the proper accent) and he’s a good speaker. Plus to mention, his slide presentation which was really interesting. He showed few texts and a whole lot of pictures. I took some of them. Check out:

Villards Cup 2012: A game for a cause

If there’s one sport aside from boxing that is closest to the heart of the many Filipinos, it has to be billiards. Well that of course is my opinion. I mean, billiards is a game for all. It’s a sport that can be played by anyone. Men, women, kids and adults can play it. And I’m glad and honored to witnessed 16 amateur pool players in our country execute their shots in the Villards Cup 2012 last September 23-24, 2012.

What is Beauty if you’re not Buffed and Polished

After so many days of contemplating, finally came up with this title, What is Beauty if you’re not Buffed and Polished? Smile What do you think? Oh please! no no, I don’t mean to sound harsh here. My point is everyone can be beautiful but not everyone can maintain their body toned and their nails polished. I mean, I’ve encountered a lot of successful people with very beautiful faces but still feel insecure. Why? Because they got arms and thighs like amazonas.  But we can’t blame them for the love of food.  Another encounter was the too-busy-for-nail polished people and I admit I’m guilty of this. Good thing, I got to visit a spa that covered both. Buffed and Polished Nail Lounge, thank you big time!

New pairs of affordable footwear from Reva

I am not a big fan of shoes really. If I have a thousand bucks, there is no way I’m spending it on shoes, only when I badly need one. I remember when mom accompanied me to the mall to buy a replacement for my old old foot wear,  she would always tell me “ang kuripot mo naman anak”. Eh I just can’t afford to buy pair of shoes at a costly price. Above five hundred worth for me is too much. I know what you’re thinking. And that’s how kuripot I am. And by the way I have one confession here, I hate high heels. I hate how it makes my feet sick after a long walk. But I can carry it. I can dance with it, walk for a day and run with heels. But not for forever. Good thing, last week I went to the Market Market, and saw a big SALE on the activity center. So I dropped by and found my type of shoes: new pairs of  affordable footwear from Reva.

That one, above, cost 300 pesos (7 dollars). I just love its color and style. Plus its affordable, not harsh on the feet and can fit in any occasions. Check out the other pair of Reva I bought for only 360 pesos (11 dollars). Same with the first, I love how it blends in anything I wear. Smile Just the perfect shoes for my taste.

My Cherry Amor

Last week, God allowed the window of heaven poured out its blessings on me. I’ll be needing more space if I detail it here but here’s one slice: Someone special  just gave me a Samsung galaxy note. Oye! And I wasn’t expecting it. So imagine my joy! It was like fireworks around me, and everyone’s clapping. My heart was dancing, shalalalala. But suddenly I remember my Cherry amor; the old cherry mobile I bought 2 years ago.

My Q3i Cherry Mobile has been very good to me. It has a real loud speaker like a subwoofer, my churchmates and friends can testify to this. And it’s shock proof (in my experience huh). Plus its like a cat, once lost it can find its way home. haha! I mentioned that because many times I lost this phone, but the good thing was it always goes to those in good hands then return it back to me. How gracious God is! :) Aside rom those features, the reason I love this Cherry is, it’s the fruit of my first job- a remembrance. I know my Cherry is not the expensive one, but I value it highly.

Laong Laan Musical Play Review

When my brother asked me to watch their musical play entitled Laong Laan, I didn’t have any second thoughts.  Well, It’s been a while since I last saw a musical play. I can still remember, it was also their show. And just like the previous, my brother did not fail me again.

It was last Friday, September 17 at UMAK Grand Theatre. I was with pop and ate together with her boyfie. We arrived there 6:50PM (quite late). Good thing the show started after about 10 minutes. We first sang the National anthem, the coolest part is, it was played in Spanish version. :) I just thought I could also learn to sing Lupang Hinirang in spanish as addition to my bucket list.  Smile with tongue out

Okay, Back to Laong Laan. Well, I am not so good at making reviews, specially when my brother (or anyone I knew) is part of the show. I usually get biased eh. (Lol) Though I have a few favorite scenes which really awaken my Filipino blood ,  check out below:

Preserving Mankind with Kojie.san Men

It was another day at the office. I was sitting in my chair trying to finish something and like the usual, singing loudly. Suddenly, a young handsome prince-like man approached me, knelt on the floor and asked me, “Will you spend eternity with me”. I know! I mean, I don’t actually remember him but who can resist the manly charm? So  without a second thought, I grabbed the moment  and said “YES!”. It’s crazy that I don’t remember him nor the day we first met but I did say yes to him.

And the next scene was, we got married! Yay! Then something popped in my mind, “No way, I haven’t told mom about the marriage yet!”. Boom! Snap back to reality. I was JUST dreaming.

So much for the intro. But really, that dream made me re-evaluate my understanding about men and the qualities I should be looking for a guy I will marry. And just in time  Nuffnang have this  contest that requires those who will join to answer this question: How can one preserve the concept of manliness in this modern age of liberal views and cultural influences?

watch out for Laong Laan, a musical play about our country’s national hero

“LAONG LAAN” a musical about the life, love and passion of the greatest Filipino who ever lived. The play takes us to a journey within the heart of the man who sparked the revolution and brought an empire to its knees. Jose P. Rizal the son, the lover, the friend, the martyr, the hero.
