Overflowing Bread as Gardenia celebrates Happy Bread Day

Definitely a delightful day for bread lovers out there because today, Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc. (GBPI), makers of the household favorite Gardenia breads famous for its good taste, freshness, softness, oven-baked aroma and nutritive-value, celebrates #HappyBreadDay at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City  from 10:00AM-9:00PM.

Now on its third straight year, Gardenia’s “Happy Bread Day” is also Gardenia’s way of reminding Pinoys to have fun and show their love for bread in line with the celebration of “World Bread Day” held every October 16 where all bread lovers the world over share the goodness of bread while advocating the “sharing” and “breaking” of bread as a significant and symbolic humanitarian act.

This year, all families, friends and anyone who just love to eat bread will truly have fun as Gardenia opens the gates of Bread Town, an overwhelming realm full of fun activities, prizes, games, surprises and overflowing breads. The event is made even bigger as Gardenia holds the finale of the Next Big Sandwich Hit, a sandwich-making and business idea generation competition among students from 10 different colleges and universities taking up either Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) or Culinary courses.

Gardenia Bread Town visitors will experience exciting activities from different booths starting with the Wheat Bread Boulevard where health buffs get to sample Gardenia’s healthylicious breads. Kids and adults alike will go ga-ga for muffins while having their own photo sessions at the Muffin Studio, and cream rolls and fun bun lovers can play at the Cream Roll Nook and Fun Bun Playground.

Curious about Gardenia’s rich history? Then take a stroll at the Gardenia Museum to find out all the answers. And after a long and tiring stroll around Gardenia Bread Town, just chill and relax at the “Pandesal CafĂ©” or savor sweet treats from the Gardenia “Flavored Bread Station.”

Meanwhile, enjoy the G-Lock Wall that holds thousands of G-locks, a color coded tag that guarantees the freshness of Gardenia breads. Each G-lock donated by visitors corresponds to two loaves donated to Gardenia’s chosen charities. Happy visitors, on the other hand, get to write their memorable Bread Town experience in the Toast Wall and can take home tokens which they will pick from the Bread Tree.

But the most awaited event is surely the Next Big Sandwich Hit Grand Finale, where inspired HRM and Culinary course students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, La Consolacion College, Centro Escolar University, Adamson University, Far Eastern University, Philippine Women’s University, Our Lady of Fatima University, St. Scholastica’s College, University of the East and University of Santo Tomas engage each other in an ultimate battle of culinary genius and wits at the grand kitchen stadium, where they will create the most delicious and mouth-watering sandwiches that will become the best-seller of a young entrepreneur’s sandwich enterprise in the future.

Surely the finale of “The Next Big Sandwich Hit” will be a nail-biting one as the winners can bring home more than P200,000 worth of prizes!
